LeBron James Has Officially Scored More Than 40,000 Career Points

LeBron James

LeBron James solidified his name in NBA history by being the first player ever to score 40,000 points career points over only regular season games. He reached the milestone in the match against the Denver Nuggets. However, it was a “bittersweet” moment for James as his team suffered a 124-114 point defeat at the hands of the defending champions of the NBA.

LeBron James Creates History

After the match, LeBron James, who is now 39, said that it was pretty cool to be the first player to do anything in the NBA. He had added 26 points to his tally in the match. He continued by saying that every player knows the history and the greats who have occupied those pages. There was a little less than 11 minutes left in the second quarter when LeBron James reached the milestone. It was a lay-up from the basket’s left side and it resulted in the Lakers taking a lead of 37-32 points.

During a subsequent timeout, James received a standing cheer from the crowd. Furthermore, the ball that was used to attain the mark was kept aside for the rest of the game. However, the night did not have the happiest ending possible, as the Nuggets extended their win streak to 6. Nikola Jokic’s 35 points played a significant factor in the final result.

Speaking about the result, James said that the most important thing has always been about victory. As such, he hated that he reached the historic milestone during a defeat and that too, at the hands of a team who has been playing exceptionally well. He analyzed that his team played good basketball, however, they failed to close the game. As such, it was a “bittersweet” night for him.
