Donald Trump Dismisses America’s Senior Military Leadership

THE INITIAL strike against America’s senior military officials occurred just hours after Donald Trump took office on January 20th: General Mark Milley’s portrait was taken down from the E-ring wall, where it had been displayed alongside other former chairmen of the joint chiefs of staff. The following day, Admiral Linda Fagan, the commandant of the coast guard, was dismissed. Then, on February 21st, the most senior serving officer, General Charles “CQ” Brown, a former F-16 pilot, was also let go from the Pentagon. At least he avoided a disparaging farewell from Trump. “He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader,” remarked Mr. Trump.
