On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he believes Lee Harvey Oswald was responsible for the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, though he questioned whether Oswald acted alone.
When asked if he thinks Oswald was the killer of JFK, Trump answered, “I do. And I’ve always believed that; however, was he assisted?” Trump shared this during an interview with Clay Travis, founder of the sports website Outkick, while on Air Force One.
Over the decades, the Justice Department and various federal entities have reiterated that Oswald was the sole assassin. Nevertheless, surveys indicate many Americans still suspect that Kennedy’s death in Dallas involved a conspiracy.
Following Trump’s directive, the government disclosed thousands of pages of digital records concerning the Kennedy assassination this week.
During his campaign, Trump pledged to enhance transparency regarding Kennedy’s assassination. After taking office, he instructed his aides to devise a plan for the release of records pertaining to the 1968 assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy, JFK’s brother, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
