It has been over a week since Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old woman from Hawaii, was last heard from, and her family is growing increasingly concerned that she may have been abducted. After missing her connecting flight in Los Angeles on November 8, suspicious text messages from her phone followed, causing her loved ones to fear the worst. Surveillance footage has since shown her with an unknown individual at a Los Angeles Metro station, raising alarms about her safety.
Unsettling Texts and a Mysterious Encounter
Kobayashi’s disappearance began when she missed her flight to New York after a layover in Los Angeles. While her ex-boyfriend continued to his destination, Kobayashi was last seen on surveillance footage around November 11, walking with a person in downtown LA. The text messages she sent in the days leading up to her disappearance did not sound like her, with phrases like “hun” and “babe” striking her family as out of character.
Kobayashi’s sister, Sydni, revealed that messages from her sister described feeling unsafe, and suggested her identity and funds had been stolen. Despite the troubling signs, the family remains hopeful and is asking for the public’s help. “We love you, Hannah,” her aunt said in a plea to anyone who might have her. The FBI is now assisting in the investigation alongside the LAPD, as they work to unravel the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
