Joey Chestnut Champion Of the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Once Again

Joey Chestnut again wins the 16th Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest after a 2-hour weather delay. It was scheduled to start at noon, but due to the inclement weather, it was delayed till the afternoon. Although because of the severe weather it was initially decided to be canceled, it was rescheduled for some later time on that day.

Joey, with his high spirit and enthusiasm, arrived at Coney Island on Tuesday with a target of eating at least 60 hot dogs in 10 minutes. And his indomitable spirit could not be subdued in any way; whether it is by the inclement weather or by the collective decision of the organising committee.

It is not known whether it was rescheduled because of Joey Chestnut’s personal acquaintances, the big name that he is; however, it was suddenly decided to restart. At 2 pm the participants were introduced to the podium with a few lines about them by the host. Among all the introductory words about them, Chestnut’s was the most commendable.

Joey Chestnut And Miki Sudo Win the Contest on Tuesday

At 2:18 the whistle rang and the contestants began eating. Joey Chestnut ate 62 hot dogs, which is less than what he had expected of himself, in ten minutes and won the contest having had 14 more than the first runner-up. The two-hour delay affected the contestant’s appetite and zeal to eat on top of one’s capacity. It was Chestnut’s eighth consecutive victory and sixteenth overall in his series of winnings.

Along with Chestnut, Miki Sudo also won Tuesday in the women’s contest making it her ninth championship. She overpowered her opponent by eating 39.5 hot dogs and won the contest having had half a piece more than the latter after a nip and tuck competition. At the end of the show, both of them expressed their intention of keeping up to their former glories as eating champions.
