WITH AMERICA still grappling with the tariffs implemented by Donald Trump affecting approximately 180 nations, a conservative group has initiated legal action contesting the first set of tariffs the president revealed in February—and subsequently increased in March—on imports from China. The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA), which has backing from right-wing billionaire Charles Koch, contends that Mr. Trump did not possess the authority to enact these tariffs. Lawsuits of a similar nature against the extensive tariff initiative of April 2nd may potentially undermine the most ambitious—and harmful—decision of Mr. Trump’s second term.
