Instagram Promises It’s Not Snooping on iOS Users’ Cameras, Says It’s a Bug

After iOS 14 Beta ratted out apps like Reddit, Tiktok, and LinkedIn as snooping around information from clipboards, it has now found out that Instagram is doing the same. Even when scrolling through the news feed, the iOS informs the user that the camera is on.

If you think that this is old news, you are probably thinking about Facebook. Instagram’s parent company too had to troubleshoot the problem of the app using the camera even when not in use. Many users had shared screenshots of that all over Twitter last year.

According to a spokesperson from Instagram, the problem doesn’t lie with the app, but with iOS 14. As it stands, there is a bug in the app that indicates the user when they are shifting from the camera on Instagram to either News Feed or Create Mode. And they are working hard to fix that bug on the latest update. He swore, “We do not access your camera in those instances, and no content is recorded.”

IOS might still be in Beta mode as of now, but it is functioning pretty fine, all things considered. Apart from Reddit and Tiktok, it has managed to uncover at least 50 apps that spy on an user’s content while they are logged in.
