Tom Cruise Is Working On His Outer Space Movie

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is still adamant about working with his Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman, to shoot his upcoming project in space. The actor said he does not yet have a production date in an interview with Variety at the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One screening in New York City. The terms NASA and Elon Musk’s Space X, with whom the actor was in discussions to shoot aboard the International Space Station back in 2020, are absent from this update.

Tom Cruise Is Dedicated to The Project

Although it’s uncertain if he’s still participating given the continuing spat between Twitter and Meta’s Threads, the latter indicated interest in the movie. However, Cruise still has to finish filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which might be the series’ concluding installment, before blasting off into space. Any Mission: Impossible movie’s major selling point is its action sequences, and Cruise doesn’t disappoint in his most recent outing. He rides a motorcycle down a cliff before safely parachuting to another train combat scene where the cast had to construct their own realistic model from scratch.

Returning to Tom Cruise’s feature-length space movie, it will no longer be the first to be shot there. The Challenge, a Russian space drama that was released in theaters in April, was successful in accomplishing that accomplishment. The Challenge followed a doctor who was compelled to travel to space in order to treat an injured cosmonaut.

On an estimated cost of 1.555 billion rubles, it was shot in space for over two weeks. As of May, it has taken in 1 billion rubles at local box offices. It’s uncertain when the movie will have a broad distribution. One of several films that have been shot in space, Cruise previously presented the brief documentary Space Station 3D, the first IMAX 3D production in orbit.

The first installment of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning stars Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, who must travel the world to stop a bioweapon from slipping into the wrong hands as evil forces from his past begin to close in.
