A small trespasser made its way onto the White House property on Tuesday, triggering a prompt reaction from the US Secret Service.

According to Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service’s head of communications, a toddler managed to crawl through the fence located on the north side of the White House, activating security alarms.

“Today, the Secret Service Uniformed Division encountered a curious young guest along the north fence of the White House who briefly made their way onto the grounds,” Guglielmi stated. “The White House’s security measures immediately alerted Secret Service agents, and the toddler was swiftly reunited with their parents.”

This isn’t the first occurrence of a toddler slipping through the White House fence. A similar situation happened in 2014 when a toddler managed to crawl through just before then-President Barack Obama was set to deliver a speech regarding Iraq, leading to a brief lockdown and postponement of the announcement.

“We were planning to wait until he could speak to ask him questions, but instead, he received a timeout and was sent on his way with his parents,” remarked Edwin Donovan, a former spokesperson for the United States Secret Service.
