Live Updates: Trump News, Yemen Group Chat Fallout, Ukraine War Discussions, and Immigration Enforcement

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, along with prominent Democratic senators, dispatched a letter on Wednesday to President Donald Trump and other senior administration officials, demanding accountability and clarity regarding the Signal group chat that was utilized for discussing sensitive information related to U.S. military operations in Yemen earlier this month.

“You have consistently championed accountability and transparency within the government, especially regarding the management of classified information, national security, and the welfare of American servicemembers. Therefore, it is crucial that you tackle this breach with the seriousness and thoroughness it warrants,” the letter continues.

The senators further urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to “conduct a comprehensive and unbiased investigation” into the matter, “considering that the willful or negligent disclosure of classified or sensitive national security information may result in a criminal breach of the Espionage Act and other statutes.”

Senators Dick Durbin, Jack Reed, Jeanne Shaheen, Mark Warner, Chris Coons, and Gary Peters also endorsed the letter. They hold senior positions on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Armed Services Committee, Foreign Relations Committee, Intelligence Committee, Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, respectively.

The correspondence was additionally sent to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
