Fake Biden Sound Clip Promotes $6400 Stimulus Check

Stimulus Check

There have been no promotions made by Joe Biden, the United States President, about a fresh stimulus check worth $6400. There have been no such approvals made by the United States federal government. If you have come across any audio tracks or clips suggesting such a fact, please be aware that is fake and a computer-generated impersonation.

A Cruel Stimulus Check Trap

Originally, a post on Facebook shared such a video. One of the headlines in the clip reads: “THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS JUST APPROVED THE NEW STIMULUS, $6400 for 97% of Americans. Seeking financial support for daily needs like groceries, gas, and rent? This government subsidy program offers eligible Americans $6400 as a subsidy with a $0 health plan.”

The fake stimulus check video also plays a voiceover that sounds very similar to that of President Joe Biden speaking. However, it is only an impersonation. The voice encourages users to register and receive a “spending card” that will have $6400 loaded in it. The voice further claims that anyone can apply for the program. It also claims that those who receive the money will not need to pay any of it back.

Stimulus packages from the government include official measures like stimulus checks for individuals. It can also include tax credits, in the hopes of boosting the economy and avoiding a recession. However, these particular shared posts have no affiliation with any official programs from the government. One of the pages sharing it, claims of being a “Federal Government Organization”. However, it does not contain any authorized government links, and neither is it Facebook-verified.

The latest stimulus check and similar direct payments were sent out during the height of the pandemic. There were only 3 rounds of payments, as well, and nothing more since.
