It has been confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will take a 10-place grid penalty for the Turkish Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton leads the driver’s standings right now after he won the Russian Grand Prix. He has opted to take a fourth engine part of the season, which is one more than the permitted for the race on Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton Will Receive The Penalty On Sunday

He will have to drop 10 places on the grid from the position he qualifies in on Saturday, as stated by FIA.

He has taken only one power-unit component and will not be subjected to a full grid drop.

Max Verstappen took the same penalty in Sochi and managed to finish second after Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton leads Max Verstappen by just two points with seven races remaining in the fiercely contested season.

Carlos Sainz from team Ferrari has undergone an entire engine change and will start the race from the back of the pack.

Valtteri Bottas gets the Turkish F1 pole position but Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the track.

His performance was not recognized as he had the 10-place grid penalty. He will start from the 11th position while Valtteri Bottas will get the pole position. Max Verstappen completed the front row by being third from Red Bull.

Lewis Hamilton has a record of 101 poles already under his belt, and clocking up numbers clearly does not keep the world champion awake at night. Of greatest import is that he did what he had to do in his attempt to come back from his grid penalty. He said he wanted to ensure he started as high up the field as possible and duly delivered with a lap that was the class of the field and a track record. But not pole number 102.
