Rosie O’Donnell Wonders Why Trump Dominated in Every Swing State

Rosie O’Donnell is raising questions about how Donald Trump managed to secure victory in every swing state during the 2024 presidential election, particularly in light of one of his prominent backers.

In an interview on RTÉ One’s “The Late Late Show,” O’Donnell expressed her curiosity over why Trump “won every single swing state” in his reelection effort, suggesting that one of his “closest friends” and “major financial supporters” is “a man who owns and operates the internet.” Although she did not name him, it is likely she was alluding to X owner Elon Musk.

“I would hope this is something that gets investigated so we can determine if it was merely an anomaly or if there were other factors at play during election night in America, especially considering Kamala Harris was filling stadiums with her supporters while Donald Trump struggled to match that energy,” O’Donnell remarked. “It raises questions, and as an American who believes in democracy, I would like all possible explanations for this phenomenon to be explored.”

Musk’s contributions to the Trump campaign amounted to over $280 million, making him the top donor in the 2024 presidential election, as per FEC filings.

O’Donnell, who has recently relocated to Ireland to escape the current political atmosphere in the U.S., mentioned that she remained in America during Trump’s first term but chose to depart ahead of his reelection, fearing his “ultimate power” backed by the Supreme Court.

“He dismantled the Department of Education, and as a parent of a child with autism, I am deeply concerned that many children, including mine, will suffer due to a lack of services, as funding for these essential programs relies on federal and state support,” O’Donnell stated. “The impact on children on the spectrum could be catastrophic. The key difference this time compared to his first term is the Supreme Court’s empowerment of him, effectively granting him the authority akin to that of a king or monarch. That’s not what the United States stands for. This is a frightening notion, and indeed, what has transpired since his return to office is alarming for both the world and the United States.”
