Top German MP Claims Transatlantic Relations Are Done as Trump Aligns with Putin – POLITICO

Roth, a member of the center-left Social Democrats, who find themselves trailing the conservative Christian Democrats in polls ahead of Sunday’s national election, characterized the new U.S. government’s rhetoric as a “worst-case scenario.”

“The transatlantic relations are finished,” Roth remarked, underscoring that Trump’s growing alignment with Putin has left Europe feeling “home alone” and unable to pursue the “best options” — now forced to settle for the least unfavorable choices.

The sharp critiques from Trump directed at Zelenskyy ignited widespread protests among European politicians.

Key EU leaders swiftly assured the Ukrainian president of their unwavering support, with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stating: “Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the legitimately elected leader of Ukraine. The inability to conduct regular elections during wartime is consistent with the Ukrainian constitution and electoral laws. No one should suggest otherwise.”
