Trump Claims to Have Written to Iran, Seeks Negotiations on Nuclear Weapons Agreement | Donald Trump

Donald Trump expressed his desire to negotiate a deal regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons program and sent a letter to the country’s leaders on Thursday, expressing hope for diplomatic discussions.

“I mentioned that I hope you’re going to negotiate, as it would be much better for Iran,” the US president stated during an interview with Fox Business Network, aired early on Friday.

“I believe they are looking to receive that letter. The only other option is that we have to take action, because we cannot allow the emergence of another nuclear weapon.”

The letter was reportedly directed to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The White House has yet to provide additional details regarding the Trump administration’s initiatives.

On Friday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov engaged in discussions with Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali about international efforts to address the issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, according to the Russian foreign ministry.
