Trump Swaps White House Desk Following Incident with Elon Musk’s Son

Donald Trump is now seated at a different desk.

More than a week after Elon Musk and Grimes’ son X Æ A-Xii Musk, 4, captured attention for digging for gold at the Resolute Desk during a trip to the Oval Office, the President announced he has chosen to use an alternative desk for the moment.

“After an election, a President can select from 1 of 7 desks,” Trump stated on his Truth Social account on February 19. “This desk, known as the ‘C&O,’ has a rich history and was previously used by President George H.W. Bush and others. It has been briefly placed in the White House while the Resolute Desk undergoes a light refinishing—a crucial task. This is a stunning, yet temporary substitute.”

Trump, who did not provide further details on the reason for the change, remarked that it would serve as “a stunning, but temporary substitute.”

The president had utilized the Resolute Desk throughout his first term, which concluded in 2021, and has returned to it multiple times since his inauguration on January 20 for his second term, including when signing executive orders.
