MINNEAPOLIS — Senator Tina Smith, a Democrat from Minnesota, announced on Thursday that she will not seek reelection in the upcoming year.
“Serving in this role has been an incredible honor. Throughout the remainder of my term, I will dedicate myself fully to the people of Minnesota and our nation,” Smith stated in a video shared on social media.
Smith served as the state’s 48th lieutenant governor starting in 2015 and was appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2017.
