Good morning and welcome to our live updates regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
During a flight on Air Force One last night, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
“We are hoping to find a way to end this war,” he informed reporters.
Trump’s administration has been engaged in discussions with Russia to secure a 30-day ceasefire, which has already received Ukraine’s agreement.
It is a challenging endeavor—Putin has indicated that, although he supports the agreement, numerous details require resolution beforehand.
As diplomatic efforts persist, hostilities continue to plague Russia and Ukraine.
On Monday evening, a drone strike impacted Ukraine’s Nikopol region, damaging residences and causing extensive power outages, according to the regional leader. Additionally, Russia launched an assault on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, as reported by the mayor.
Meanwhile, in Russia, the regional governor of Astrakhan reported that a Ukrainian drone strike targeted energy infrastructure and other facilities in the area, injuring one individual and igniting a fire.
