US Implements 104% Tariffs on China Alongside Other ‘Reciprocal’ Duties

Former President Trump announced that the administration is engaging in discussions with several countries, beginning with South Korea.

“I just had a productive conversation with the Acting President of South Korea,” Trump shared on social media. “We discussed their significant and unsustainable surplus, tariffs, shipbuilding, major procurement of U.S. LNG, their joint project on an Alaska pipeline, and compensation for the extensive Military Protection we offer South Korea.”

Trump pointed out that the talks encompassed various subjects beyond just tariffs.

“We are also negotiating with numerous other countries, all of whom are eager to reach agreements with the United States. Similar to South Korea, we’re addressing other issues not limited to Trade and Tariffs and working to negotiate those as well. ‘ONE STOP SHOPPING’ is a wonderful and efficient approach!!!

The president also signaled growing trade tensions with China. On Monday, Trump pledged to impose an additional 50% tariff on Chinese goods if Beijing does not lift its 34% retaliatory tariff.

“The US’s threat to hike tariffs on China is a blunder on top of another blunder,” stated the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in a response on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg. “If the US continues on this path, China will confront it head-on.”

“China is also eager to make a deal, but they’re unsure how to initiate it,” Trump remarked on Tuesday. “We are waiting for their call.”
