The United States plans to implement a 104% tariff on China starting at 12:01 a.m. EST Wednesday, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during a Tuesday briefing.
Beginning tomorrow, the White House will start imposing hefty tariffs on imported Chinese goods, as President Trump follows through on a threat he posted on Truth Social on Monday.
On Monday, Mr. Trump indicated he might impose an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports following China’s retaliatory move of a 34% tariff on American products. China’s response occurred after Mr. Trump announced a 34% tariff on all goods entering the U.S. from China, a measure specifically aimed at that nation.
China’s Ministry of Commerce stated on Tuesday that Beijing would “fight to the end” and take retaliatory actions against the U.S. if Mr. Trump does not retract his latest threat.
