WASHINGTON — On Friday, White House physician Sean Barbabella published a memo regarding the findings of President Donald Trump’s annual physical examination, declaring that the president is in “excellent health.”
According to Barbabella, Trump displays “strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function.” He noted that “his active lifestyle plays a significant role in his health.”
“The president’s daily routine involves participating in various meetings, making public appearances, engaging with the press, and frequently excelling in golf tournaments,” he added. “President Trump demonstrates outstanding cognitive and physical health and is entirely able to fulfill the responsibilities of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
The physical assessment included diagnostic evaluations and laboratory tests, as stated in Barbabella’s memo. He also consulted with 14 specialists.
In his diagnostic summary, Barbabella pointed out that Trump has scarring on his right ear, a result of a gunshot wound sustained during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, last summer.
The memo indicated that Trump’s examinations for his heart, lungs, eyes, hearing, and abdomen returned normal results. His blood pressure was marginally elevated at 128/74, and the dermatological examination showed “some minor sun damage and a few benign lesions,” according to the memo.
His routine lab tests were reported to be within normal ranges for blood count, kidney, liver, and thyroid functions. Trump’s cholesterol levels are reportedly well-managed through medication, and his blood sugar levels remain within normal limits.
The president also underwent “a thorough neurological examination,” which revealed no abnormalities, Barbabella noted.
Trump successfully completed the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a widely used test for identifying cognitive impairment that usually takes around 10 minutes, achieving a perfect score of 30 out of 30, Barbabella reported.
The president had previously taken pride in his score on this cognitive assessment, which aims to detect early signs of cognitive decline.
“It’s like you’ll go: ‘Person, woman, man, camera, TV.’ So they say, ‘Could you repeat that?’ And I responded, ‘Sure. It’s ‘person, woman, man, camera, TV.’ ‘Alright, that’s very good. If you remember it in order, you get extra points,’” Trump stated in 2020.
In November, Trump became the oldest individual ever elected president, surpassing Joe Biden, whose age raised concerns among voters.
The memo also revealed that Trump has lost 20 pounds since his last reported physical in 2020, indicating that he currently weighs 224 pounds with a body mass index of 28, categorizing him as overweight.
The medications listed in the memo for the president include cholesterol-lowering medication, aspirin for heart disease prevention, and a topical steroid cream as needed for his skin condition.
