Sullivan, 64, admitted during a session of Q&A that he had been anxious about directing the steamy scenes between Taye Diggs and Angela Bassett, capturing the female perspective.

The actress remarked on the film that it was her fantasy that her male co-actor would have to perform naked instead of her. and according to Sullivan, he and Angela collaborated as the sequences were storyboarded with her assistance.

Angela Bassett On The Difference Between Male And Female Perspective

Angela Bassett then added that it had been a comfortable experience. Comparing it with other movies where she was doing similar scenes, Angela said that those scenes, directed by men, focused more on the male perspective which at times made her quite uncomfortable.

“As a female performer, there are occasions when you feel a bit awkward. You never know how things are going to turn out”, she stated before stating once more that her time on “How Stella …Groove Back” had been very comfortable. How Stella Found Her Beat Back follows Delilah, who persuades Stella (Bassett) to go on a holiday with her to Jamaica, where Stella meets Winston (Diggs), a much younger man, and falls for him. Before the use of an intimate scene, the crew on site ensures to assure performers’ comfort during steamy sequences in film and television productions, Angela Bassett remarked, the movie was shot.

Diggs, 52, was one of three performers with whom Bassett and Sullivan recorded screen tests for the role of Winston Shakespeare, which he played in another panel discussion.
