Arsenal Have Fumbled On Their Title Hold With A Flat Performance Against Brentford

Arsenal went on to drop points in their title race for the Premier League on Saturday with Ivan Tony equalizing for Brentford in their match against the current leaders of the league. The performance of the Gunners was quite lackluster, with the sole goal scorer being Leandro Trossard, the 27 million pound signing from Brighton- who fired in his first goal for the team after a fine bit of play by Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

But the North London side was unable to hold on to their lead over the mid-table team. Arsenal had to win this match as they had lost their previous match to Everton. But they could only manage a draw. Although they are clear of second place Manchester City by 6 points, the team in blue could easily reduce the deficit with a victory over Aston Villa on Sunday. If that does happen, the title clash could be on Wednesday- with Manchester City facing the Gunners at the Emirates.

Arsenal Had A Bland Outing Against Brentford

Although Arsenal did mess up their title race the previous week with a loss, they managed to get away with that as Manchester City lost to the Spurs as well. Nevertheless, Pep’s team does have another chance to cut that deficit in half before they move against Arteta’s team. Before their match against Brentford, Martin Odegaard, the captain of the Gunners, sounded quite assured of his team’s practice session. But what turned out was quite a flat, bland performance from the team that had been performing like a dream just a few weeks back.

While some experts believe Mikel Arteta should shuffle the squad a bit rather than playing the same for the last few weeks, the results are there for all to see. Arteta wants the winning momentum to stay with the Arsenal team, and there could be no reason to change that. Yet, with the loss against Everton and the draw against Brentford, the voices may soon rise up again.
