Scarlett Johansson On Personal Growth And Black Widow’s Sexualization

Scarlett Johansson, the Hollywood actress, spoke out about her views with regard to her character in one of her movies from the MCU franchise. The actress expressed her disappointment in the way her character, the Black Widow, was approached in the Avengers sequel, Iron Man 2. The movie was released in the year 2010. The character of Natasha Romanoff or the Black Widow has always remained one of the favorites of the fans. There is also an upcoming movie on the character alone that is played by Scarlett Johansson herself. 

Scarlett Johansson On Evolved Thought Process

The 36-year-old MCU franchise actress attended an interview with the entertainment website, Collider. It was held this week. Scarlett Johansson brought out the fact that the characters played by her have seen major evolution over the years. And the reason behind this is the fact that her evolution both as a woman from the entertainment industry as well as a normal woman. The actress stated that within the span of 10 years, she had had a tremendous amount of growth. She also acknowledged the fact that currently, she was in such a place in her life that she had never been before. 

Referring to the movie, Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson stated that the change in her has a lot to do with her staying away from the “hypersexualization” of Black Widow, her character in the movie. She stated that her character was so sexualized that she was treated like an object in the movies. And at that point in time, after having received objectifying comments, she even felt good. The actress stated that she used to take it as a compliment. However, things are different now. And the major part of the shift in her thought process was because she herself had realized her value. Scarlett Johansson stated that she loved to go through that paradigm shift in her mentality, something that young women all over the world are being taught.
