Barcelona Women’s Football Team is on a high at the moment. Much to the contrast of their male counterparts, the girls are making merry on the field. The women’s team of Barca faced off against a gritty Wolfsburg in the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League recently. It was a do-or-die encounter for Barca.

The team was determined to kill the game in the first leg itself. They came out with all their guns blazing right from the start. The Wolfsburg players had difficulty containing the Barca women right away. They played short and crisp passes and kept switching positions. This made the Wolfsburg women confused, losing their way in the process.

Barcelona was relentless in their attack. The Catalan team had the chance to score as many as four goals inside the first ten minutes of the match. Bonmati and Hansen scored in the third and the tenth minute to give Barca the lead. Alexia Putellas scored a brace including a penalty to drive home the victory.

Barcelona also broke Wolfsburg’s streak of being unbeaten for seventeen consecutive games.
