The script for Tina Fey’s 2018 Broadway show adaptation for the Paramount+ film musical is currently being written. The stars of the forthcoming Mean Girls the Musical film were introduced by Paramount on Friday. The picture is a 2018 Broadway production remake of the popular 2004 Lindsay Lohan film.
As per The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, Cady Heron, formerly portrayed by Lohan in the movie, will be played by Angourie Rice from Senior Year and Mare of Easttown. Reneé Rapp, who played Regina George in Sex Lives of College Girls, will play Rachel McAdams’ on-screen rival.
With Jaquel Spivey from the Broadway production of A Strange Loop playing Damian, Auli’i Cravalho, who provided the voice for the 2016 animated film Moana, will play Janis. The outlets claimed that the film would make its debut on Paramount+. In the movie, Daniel Franzese and Lizzy Caplan played those roles. The 2004 film and the Broadway production’s writers, Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live, will produce under the direction of Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr.
Fey, 52, also penned the script for this movie. Nell Benjamin wrote the words, and Jeff Richmond, Fey’s husband, composed the music.
Former Mean Girls Cast Reacts To The Musical Announcement
In a recent interview with Interview magazine, Amanda Seyfried and Lindsay Lohan discussed their experiences filming Mean Girls and their views on a non-musical sequel to their version and its feasibility.
Seyfried also believed that there could never be a Mean Girls 2 since she heard that it’d be a musical film and could not believe it. According to Lohan, it must remain the same exact spirit; Seyfried responded that it’d be entirely different.
She continues, saying that Tina is occupied and that she’ll do it eventually. It’s extremely good to be in contact as adults because, whether they like it or not, they’re all members of each other’s lives.
