West Indies player and international cricket legend choose his favorites among the best seamers in the world of cricket.
Although retired now after a career spanning 12 years with 391 wickets, he has not failed to keep a tab on the sport as an experienced commentator.
Holding currently works for Sky Sports and on a podcast when asked to name the greatest seamers of all times, he replied with the names: Andy Roberts, once his roommate, Malcolm Marshall, the legendary Denis Lillee of the Australian team and Dale Steyn, a current South African genius.
He expressed admiration for all the three players of his time. Especially about Denis Lillee, he said that the player lost his pace, control, and aggression after his back injury but he remodeled himself to take his wicket even after losing his initial pace.
Malcolm could judge a batsman on the opposite end quickly and easily that fast bowling seemed to be his natural talent. Holding also reminisced about his field-friend Andy and how they talked about cricket every night as roommates. “You would never believe how much this guy knows.”
But if the current picture is taken into account, Holding chose Dale Steyn as the best of the lot.
Steyn has previously been regarded as the ‘best bowler of his generation’ by Stuart Broad as well.
The swing-skills of these seamers are really something you’d pay to watch.
