David Perdue, the former Senator from the state of Georgia took the first step towards re-entering the US Senate for the year 2022. He was faced with a loss in the runoff election that took place in the month of January. Paperworks had been filed by him in alliance with the Federal Election Commission. This took place this Monday during the evening time.
According to sources, the former Senator is very likely to launch another of his campaigns. If he takes the decision of running for the post, he will be contesting against Raphael Warnock, the Senator of Georgia. Warnock is also the senior pastor of a church in Atlanta called the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
David Perdue’s Political Campaigns
The US Senate was flipped by the last month’s runoff election. The Senators belonging to the Republican Party were won over by Jon Ossoff and Warnock. Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler were on the losing end. The two Senators from the Democratic party who won the elections are the first senators to be elected in the span of 20 years from the state of Georgia.
David Perdue gave a statement following the runoff election results. It was stated that the party lost on Georgia’s election that has the rule of 50%. The former Senator also went on to express his congratulations to his opponents from the Democratic party who won. He further added that he would not stop praying for his state and the country.
The campaign of the former Senator of Georgia was under serious scrutiny after an incident that included the current vice-president of the United States of America, Kamala Harris. He had mispronounced the name of the vice-president, deliberately. A similar thing took place involving Ossoff. Perdue was made to pull an advertisement that entertained the anti-Semitic trope.
