Former Trump Advisor Peter Navarro Was Found Guilty Of Historic Contempt And Sentenced To Jail

Peter Navarro

Being the first former White House employee to be imprisoned for a contempt of Congress conviction, Peter Navarro, a former advisor to former President Donald Trump, has reported to a federal jail in Miami.

Due to his failure to abide by a subpoena from the House Select Committee looking into the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, Navarro received a four-month jail term. Speaking for thirty minutes at a gas station before surrendering to jail, Navarro described the case against him as an “unprecedented assault on the constitutional separation of powers.”

He asserted that Trump will face the same legal strategies as were employed against him: “At this moment, I am feeling angry and furious.”

Peter Navarro Says “See You On The Other Side”

“God bless you all, see you on the other side,” Peter Navarro said in closing. His conviction was a unique instance of a member of Trump’s inner circle facing consequences from the criminal justice system for their unwillingness to cooperate with investigators. Trump has not yet been prosecuted for the numerous crimes he has been accused of committing, which is why Navarro’s prison sentence came about. Peter Navarro’s defense attorneys, including former House General Counsel Stanley Brand, said on Monday that “it’s historic, and will be to future White House aides who get subpoenaed by Congress.”

Under both party administrations, legislators will have more clout to obtain cooperation in their investigations as a result of Peter Navarro’s penalty for dodging a House inquiry.
