Jennifer Coolidge won her first-ever Golden Globe award defeating fellow nominees- Niecy Nash, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Aubrey Plaza, and Claire Danes. Coolidge won the Golden Globe 2023 trophy for leading supporting actress for her fan-favorite role of Tanya in HBO’s hit show “White Lotus”.
In her acceptance speech, she got quite emotional while thanking Ryan Murphy amongst the others who helped her to grind in this industry for the last 20 years. These Lil gigs would keep her going until the next one arrives. Also, noting a special thanks to Michael Patrick King for keeping her along in the long run. She went on to thank Reese Witherspoon for her role in Legally Blonde and Weiss Brothers for her last 5 sequels with American Pie.
White Lotus Gives Jennifer Coolidge Her Big Break
After saying thanks to her agents she expressed her appreciation towards Mike White creator of the show “White Lotus” with praises that lead him to tears. She added how this opportunity eventually changed her life and the people around her from being insignificant to getting invites from everyone, he saved her in a million ways. She exhilarates that ‘Mike White is one of the best people I have come across, he worries about people and the world. His acts make people want to live longer.
She concludes her speech with victory remarks and finishes off by saying ‘Mike White *BLEEP* I love you’ and thanks him for the great night. The event was held at Beverly Hills Hotel, her speech received grand applause along with a standing ovation from the audience.
Jennifer Coolidge in her 60s says after her weight gain during the COVID pandemic she was almost going to turn down the role of Tanya as she did not find herself in a shape to fight. A fellow friend of hers talked her back into it. Usually, she prefers to listen to her thoughts in her head but for once she listened and took her advice.
