Words have power. JoJo Siwa was compelled to retract remarks wherein she claimed to dislike the term “lesbian.”
Openly gay actress Jojo Siwa recently expressed her dislike of the phrase to Yahoo! Life. She argued that it is an issue of phonetics, not semantics, in a new TikTok clip, nevertheless.
She claimed on TikTok that she had never called lesbian a bad term and she would never, ever do that because it isn’t. It’s not a dirty term, it isn’t an insult, and it is certainly not a term I am embarrassed to use or to identify as in any way.
Jojo Siwa Does Not Hate The Word
I do not detest the term lesbian,” she added. I simply state that I am gay whenever anyone inquires about my sexual orientation. If that makes sense, it’s not the term that comes to mind when I think of it.
The “Dance Moms” veteran confused her followers just after Yahoo! interview when she stated that “Lesbian is simply like a lot,” adding that she felt the word is too frequently linked to masculinity.

That is not true. There are many lesbians who are incredibly feminine. In Jan 2021, JoJo Siwa, 19, announced that she was gay. She soon declared that she was seeing Kylie Prew. Since then, the pair have dated intermittently.
