Kendrick Lamar has caused a stir with his uncredited appearance on Future and Metro Boomin’s latest album, “We Don’t Trust You.” His standout verse on the track “Like That” takes direct aim at fellow rappers Drake and J. Cole.

In the verse, Lamar responds to lines from Drake and J. Cole’s previous collaboration, “First Person Shooter,” where J. Cole mentions the “big three” consisting of himself, Lamar, and Drake. Drake’s subsequent response on his own track seemed to exclude Lamar from this designation, sparking tension.

Kendrick Lamar’s Provocative Verse Sparks Controversy

Kendrick Lamar’s retaliation on “Like That” is clear and direct. He dismisses the notion of the “big three” altogether, asserting, “Motherfuck the big three, n—a, it’s just big me.” He further critiques the quality of their music, suggesting that his legacy will outshine theirs, drawing parallels to Prince’s longevity compared to Michael Jackson.

This isn’t the first time Lamar has stirred controversy with his lyrics. In 2013, his verse on Big Sean’s “Control” ignited discussions about competition among rappers. While Lamar’s verse has dominated headlines, it’s worth noting that “We Don’t Trust You” is the highly anticipated collaborative effort of Future and Metro Boomin, with another project set to release on April 12.
