The nation’s millions of residents faced significant financial hardship as a result of the pandemic response.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, passed by Congress in an effort to lessen the suffering, provided for the setting of $2.3 trillion for the payment of stimulus checks. Overall, three separate rounds of monetary payments totaling around $1,200 for each individual and $500 per kid were made. In 2021, the final payment was given out. But the hardship was quite real for a sizable portion of the populace. As a result, some states made the decision to implement their own stimulus program.

Stimulus Checks To Be Distributed In A Few States

In the state of California, the Middle-Class Tax Refund permitted residents to receive payments ranging from $200 to $1,050- entirely dependent on dependents, income, and tax filing status. If you submitted your tax return for 2020 by the 15th of October 2021, satisfied the state’s adjusted gross income restrictions, and did not claim any dependents in the tax year of 2020, you would be considered eligible for this payment.

Furthermore, in 2020, one must have been a resident of the state for at least six months and remain a resident on the date the Stimulus Check payment is granted.  For individuals who had paid their taxes for the year 2021 on time, Colorado Cash Back offered stimulus check payouts of $750 for single taxpayers and $1,500 for joint filers by the 30th of September 2022. The action was thought to offer residents quick respite.

If taxpayers decide they need to file an updated return, they can do so by using the same electronic filing method they used to submit their initial 2022 tax return. Such taxpayers also have the choice of receiving their refund via direct transfer.

Taxpayers who file an updated return on paper will only receive a paper check; they will not be able to obtain their refund via direct deposit.
