Stimulus Check

The response to the pandemic did result in quite a profound financial challenge for the millions of citizens in the country.

To ease the pain, Congress went on to pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act- under which they set aside a sum of $2.3 trillion that would go towards stimulus check payments. Overall, there were three distinct rounds of cash payments made- at around $1,200 per person, plus a sum of $500 per child. The last of the payments were distributed in 2021. For quite a large part of the population- however, the struggle was quite palpable. As a result of this, some states decided to push out their version of stimulus payments.

Stimulus Check Payment To Be Distributed In A Few States

In the state of California, the Middle-Class Tax Refund allowed the residents of the state to receive payments that ranged from $200 to $1,050- completely dependent on the dependents, income, and the status of tax filing. One would be declared eligible for this payment if they had filed their tax return for 2020 by the 15th of October 2021, met the adjusted gross income limits put forward by the state, and had not claimed any dependent in the tax year of 2020. Additionally, in 2020 one would also have to be a resident of the state for at least six months, and they would also have to be a resident on the date of the payment issued.

In Colorado, the Colorado Cash Back provided the residents of the state with stimulus check payment- those who had filed their taxes 2021 on time with payments made at $750 for single, and $1,500 for joint filers by the 30th of September 2022. The measure was considered to provide immediate relief to the citizens.
