As inflation continues to rise, state governments have stepped in to provide much-needed relief to Americans through stimulus checks in 2022. Now, some states are continuing to send out stimulus checks in 2023. Who is eligible, how large the check will be, and when the check will arrive vary from state to state.
California is one of the 17 states that is still sending out stimulus checks in 2023. Residents who filed a California tax return by October 15th of 2021, did not exceed certain income limits, could not be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s 2020 tax return, and were a California resident for at least six months in 2020 are eligible to receive a check from $200 to $1,050, depending on their income, filing status, and whether they have dependents.
Stimulus Check Latest State Updates
The payments were issued by direct deposit from October 7th to October 25th, 2022, with additional payments sent in the following weeks. Those who received payment by debit card in 2020 or 2021 had their payments issued between October 24th and December 10th, while those who changed their bank or bank account since filing their 2020 tax return had their payments issued between December 17th and January 14th, 2023.
In Colorado, “Cash Back” payments were issued by September 30th, 2022, to those who filed a 2021 Colorado income tax return or applied for a property tax/rent/heat credit rebate by June 30th. Eligible single filers receive $750 and eligible joint filers receive $1,500. If a filer received an extension to file their 2021 Colorado return, their payment will be issued by January 31st, 2023.
Delaware is sending out Relief Rebate checks of $300 per eligible person. The initial payments were sent out in May of 2022. Additional payments were sent in the summer and early fall. Eligible adult residents living in Delaware on December 31st, 2021, who didn’t receive a Relief Rebate had until December 15th, 2022 to apply online for a payment.
Idaho is sending out two tax rebates in 2022. Full-year residents who filed 2020 and 2021 Idaho income tax returns by the end of 2022 are eligible for the payments. The first payment depends on the filing status shown on the 2021 tax return and can range from $75 to.
