The CMT Awards 2021 was held on the 9th of June that fell on a Wednesday. The top category of the award was won by John Legend, the American singer and songwriter, and Carrie Underwood, another singer and songwriter hailing from America. The singers won the award for their track, “Hallelujah” which was released on the 13th of November 2020. Carrie Underwood, the 38-year-old artist, went on to accept the award on behalf of John Legend as well. With the award of the top category of CMT Awards 2021, Underwood has become one of the most decorated music personalities yet again.

The “Before He Cheats” artist went on to give a heartfelt speech as she accepted her win. She expressed her gratitude towards the CMT faculty and her fans. She also added that the fans were the fuel that added fire to the passion for producing more music. The 23rd times winning artist also spoke a few lines about John Legend in the CMT Awards 2021. She congratulated the 42-year-old artist on the first CMT award of his life. She also mentioned the fact that it was him who sent her the special song. “Hallelujah” appears on the first holiday album of Underwood named “My Gift.”
The performances that took place at the CMT Awards 2021 were all-star studded. The award ceremony began with “Lady A,” the American country music group hailing from Nashville in the state of Tennessee. They were accompanied by another American singer and songwriter, Carly Pearce, and the Canadian singer, Lindsey Ell. The opening award in the CMT Awards 2021 was given for the category of “group duo video of the year.” It was won by Little Big Town, the musical group from the state of Alabama. It was for their project “Wine, Beer, Whiskey.”
