Hank Aaron will be remembered in the opening derby this season. According to the announcements by Major League Baseball, participants of the derby will pay tribute to the legend. They are supposed to be sporting the jersey number of the legend. 

Hank Aaron’s Jersey Number Of 44 Sported By The Players

The MLB asked all the athletes that will appear on the opening derby to wear the 44 no. Jersey. This was a sign of respect to Hank, who is an absolute legend in the history of MLB.

Hank Aaron used to wear the jersey of 44. He was a tremendous competitor who hung his boots in the year 1976. During his stint as a player, his tally of the home run was a staggering 755. This was the record until it was bettered by Bonds. 2007 was the year when Aaron’s record got broken.

The derby will be hosted by Denver. Family members of Aaron have confirmed their attendance at the mega showdown. Billye, who is the wife of Hank Aaron will also be seen during the event. The All-Star players will be donning the jersey of 44 for their workout session as well. 

Shohei Ohtani is the favorite for Tuesday’s main event. He is the chart-topper for scoring the most number of runs this season. There will be other challenges for Ohtani as well. Pete Alonso, Joey Gallo, Matt Olson & Juan Soto will also participate in the event. Trevor Story, Trey Mancini & Salvador Perez will be among the other potential threats for Ohtani. 

Hank Aaron breathed his last at the age of 86. He was a fantastic athlete and holds several records. He was the leader in RBIs and Total of Bases at 2297 & 3771 respectively. He ranked at no.3 with 3771 hits.
