House Democrats: FDA not doing enough to regulate antibody tests

On Friday, House Democrats criticized the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for mishandling the massive influx of coronavirus antibody tests.

The House Oversight Committee revealed a memo to the panel members showing that the FDA has allowed certain antibodies into the market without any review. They said that the lack of regulation could put millions of American lives in danger.

FDA Administrator, Stephen Hahn, at a press briefing defended the agency saying that the policies are flexible. He also said that the administration was working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Cancer Institute to review the tests.

House Democrats also questioned the inaction of the FDA against companies falsely marketing their tests as FDA approved.
