JaMychal Green Finally Swayed By Warriors’ Steve Kerr

Early in July, Steph Curry and Draymond Green’s phone conversations clinched the deal, converting top prospect Donte DiVincenzo to a Warrior. Coach Steve Kerr took the lead in making phone calls to JaMychal Green, the newest member of Golden State who finally signed a one-year veteran’s minimum contract on Monday.

The Warriors are also. On the other end of the call was Kerr.

The two hit it up right away after drying off in his room. On the eve of the NBA draught this year, the Denver Nuggets traded Green to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He became an immediate buyout possibility for rivals as a result.

JaMychal Green And Draymond had Known Each Other For A While

Green and Kerr started talking, and that conversation profoundly altered his future.

Green intended to sign with a new team besides the Warriors prior to that conversation. That unnamed team now has an additional motivation to despise the defending champions.

JaMychal Green was made aware by Kerr of the organization’s fervent desire for him to join the Warriors. Actually, they were interested in him long before the summer even began. They are well acquainted with him and have long sought his skill set.

Eight years of Green’s career have been spent exclusively in the Conference Finals. He has faced the Warriors fifteen times in the postseason and 23 times during the season opener, including the first round last year. He only needs to glance at his last name to find out which Warriors player is already well acquainted with him.

JaMychal and Draymond Green have already been playing against one another since they were in the eighth grade. They grew closer as high school seniors as their profiles as recruiters developed, and they maintained communication throughout their professional careers. After Kerr’s initial call, both Greens spoke with each other on the phone, although this conversation was not so much a sales pitch.
