Man United Feels Heat After 4-0 Loss At Brentford

Temperatures soared in England on Saturday and nobody felt as hot as new Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag.

Another humiliating day for the big free-fall club as United conceded four goals in the opening 35 minutes and lost 4-0 to Brentford in the Premier League. The Dutchman from Ten Haag, who arrived at Ajax in the off-season as Manchester United’s fifth manager in nine years and was so impressed by the goalscoring run at the Brentford Community Stadium, has two games and two defeats so far.

It is understandable as well. Manchester United did not go to half-time in a 4-0 Premier League game. It is the first time United has conceded so many goals in the Premier League.

Man United Riddled With Individual Mistakes

There were far too many individual mistakes — David de Gea, the goalkeeper, allowed the weakest of shots to dribble past him into the net opening Brentford’s scoring. Christian Eriksen suffered a tackle inside United’s box resulting in a turnover and the second. Brentford then was gifted 2 headers, without much contest, from a corner to score the third.

Understandably, Ten Hag would have wanted nothing more than to substitute the majority of the Man United squad at halftime. But he made 3. Christiano Ronaldo managed to remain on the pitch and finished the entire match. The offseason was marred with drama between him and the club as he wanted to exit the squad. Nevertheless, the frustration was evident on his face throughout the entire match.

New United manager Ten Hag commented that he had requested them to play the match and belief in themselves, as well as be responsible for the performance they put on. Unfortunately, according to him, the players did not do that.

Jensen commented that they felt like they were coming out ahead in everything. According to him, United failed to keep up with their intensity, second balls, and pressure, leading to their clearly struggling performance throughout the match.

Ben Mee, Matias Jensen, and Josh Dasilva were the scorers for Brentford. They continued to apply persistent pressure to dominate Man United.

Things could also get worse for Ten Hag along with his new side, who lost 2-1 to Brighton last weekend at home. What follows? Only bitter rivals Liverpool will be chomping at the reins to slump Man United to a straight fifth defeat that started from the previous season.
