Manchester United secured Champions League on final day, but the real rebuild begins now

History books will tell you that the Premier League this season was comparatively easy for Manchester United than it has been in recent years. After an easy win over Leicester on the last Matchday, they sit comfortably at the third position behind Liverpool, and Manchester City- their best performance in a long time. But appearances can be deceptive.

Manchester United has struggled the entire season to find consistency, and while it has shown seeds of brilliance, the visuals of failure are more. The entire Premier League journey of the Red Devils has been an endeavor to reach that Champions League place. But after drawing to Liverpool at home on the first Matchday, not many would have bet on Manchester United going remotely near.

Bruno Fernandes has been their talisman since joining the club along with Mason Greenwood. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford continue to show sparks of brilliance, while Wan-Bissaka keeps developing every game. To the average Joe, Manchester United are doing fine. But fans won’t really be happy with just being ‘fine’.

Their last win was courtesy of a Brune Fernandes penalty, and a Kasper Schmeichel mistake. And that says a lot about their season results- a whole lot of luck.
