Mayim Bialik will be the first guest host of Jeopardy– the weekday edition- in the wake of the abrupt departure of Mike Richards from the anchoring job. Sources close to the show have stated that Bialik would be hosting the episodes which will be taped throughout this week. Since the game show ideally tapes a week’s worth of episodes in one day, it implies that she would be hosting close to three consecutive weeks of Jeopardy.

Mayim Bialik Frontrunner For Jeopardy?

The producer of the show, Sony, recently confirmed the news after the speculation was first published. They further stated that additional guest hosts will be announced along with Mayim Bialik. This would be a move designed for when the producer goes ahead with the production of the new season- which will definitely be aired by the middle of September.

When the producers named Bialik as the host of Jeopardy prime time specials, most of its ardent viewers thought of it as some consolation prize, especially because Richards had been named the host of the popular weekday show. As it stands, Jeopardy is the only prime-time tournament that is currently on air.

Interestingly, with Mike Richards out of the daily host picture amidst controversy over past offensive remarks, Mayim Bialik could very well be the frontrunner for the weekday job. Sources close to the matter confirmed that several studio executives were already debating whether to give her the role or not. It was stated that although the studio loved Mayim, her schedule for Call me Kat was set- and it would be quite problematic for her to juggle both the events.

Mayim Bialik rose to fame with the smash hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, where she played Amy, the love interest of Sheldon Cooper. Currently, she plays the role of Kat in Call Me Kat on Fox. She also hosts a podcast weekly where she talks about mental health, called “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown”.
