Miguel Cabrera, of the Detroit Tigers, has become the latest addition to one of baseball’s most exclusive groups. He has now hit 500 home runs. He managed the feat on Sunday while facing the Blue Jays. The match was played out in Toronto.
Miguel Cabrera Is The 28th Hitter To Reach The Mark
Miguel Cabrera can now show off another impressive statistic in his career. The Tigers’ hitter was player no. 28 to enter the exclusive club of those with 500 HRs. He blasted the milestone home run in the 6th inning.
Miguel Cabrera, now 38, homered off of Steven Matz. The left-handed pitcher was pitching with a count of 1 strike and 1 ball. The ball climbed past the scoreboard, in the right-center direction of the field. The homer climbed a height of 400 feet, with the score getting drawn at 1 run apiece. By the time all 11 innings were played out, the Tigers were victorious with a score of 5 to 3.
Miguel Cabrera received the 14,685 fans’ standing ovation after crossing the milestone. Cabrera first celebrated with the team. The slugger then left his dugout once more, to accept his curtain call. He took off the helmet and bowed to the audience behind the dugout of Detroit.
He said that the achievement was special for his country and his family. He was very happy for reaching the milestone.
Jeimer Candelario was the quickest to come out and celebrate Cabrera’s massive achievement. He said that he knew something special is happening the moment the ball was hit.
This is the first time a Detroit Tigers player reached the mark. Cabrera needed 31 at-bats to get his 500th HR after the 499th one. This is Miguel’s 19th season as an MLB professional.
