Nancy Pelosi On Immigration Issues
The statement was made at one of the press conferences that was held with the leadership of the White House. She stated that the bill should at least have minimal provisions related to the case of immigrants. Nancy Pelosi gave the statement on the 29th of July that fell on a Friday. The speaker of the House stated that there were so many for the Democrats to do so.
The Democratic politicians concerned with the bills are all trying their best to include a provision related to citizenship. As per the subject, all of the “Dreamer immigrants” will be protected from getting deported under DACA which is “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.” Those immigrants are those who were brought into the country while they were just children. The provision will also extend protection to all the holders of TPS, Temporary Protected Status, farmworkers, and essential workers.
The comments given by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were followed by a meeting that took place between Joe Biden, the President, Kamala Harris, the vice-president, and the lawmakers belonging to the Democratic party in which Nancy Pelosi holds an important position.
The main issue behind the meeting was to discuss the subjects related to providing citizenship to those millions of immigrants who were living in the country without any legal document. The reforms related to the cause of immigration are one of the most important parts of the reconciliation talks. Most of the Democrats have claimed to withdraw their support if the citizenship provision is not included in it.
