NeNe Leakes’ husband had left the star with some thoughts to ponder over. The ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star opened up about her final days with Gregg Leakes before he passed away earlier this month.
The final 5 days before he passed away was especially poignant for NeNe Leakes. It was truly beautiful, she remembers. His children were all present. So were their friends. They stayed by him at his last moments.
NeNe Leakes Husband Was Surrounded By His Loved Ones In His Last Days
NeNe Leakes’s husband, a businessman, passed away after a long battle with colon cancer at 66, surrounded by his friends and family, at his home in Atlanta. He was first diagnosed in 2018. It returned after two a two-year remission.
NeNe and Gregg first married in 1997, divorced in 2011, and were back together again in 2013 till his last days.
She says that they made peace with all that was happening around them. She remembered Gregg’s final words. He had said that he wasn’t leaving her and that God would bless her. NeNe Leakes added that he wanted her to move on.
NeNe Leakes’ husband had been sick for the last four years of his life. She had then donned the part of his caretaker. It was something new to her in many ways.
She recalls that it had been difficult initially, as Gregg had taken care of most things in her life. She had never paid attention to those things and had to gradually learn.
She remembers Gregg’s last moment. She recalls that he just took a long breath and then stopped. She had thought that the last moment when it came would be frightening. But all she felt was love as she kissed and hugged him in his final moments.
NeNe Leakes says that she believes that Gregg is away on a road trip and he will come back soon. She keeps waiting for him.
