At New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium’s atmosphere was raucous as Novak Djokovic battled it out against Jenson Brooksby, in the United States Open’s 4th round. Brooksby was the only remaining American in the tournament.

Novak Djokovic Survived A Small Scare

For one and a half sets, Novak Djokovic had to work extra hard to beat out Jenson Brooksby. Brooksby’s performance was an exemplar of the talent that the wild-card from California holds. He is currently the 99th ranked player and only 20 years old. He showed that he belonged on the stage that he was playing on for the first time.

However, unsurprisingly, Novak Djokovic soon took the reins and showed why he is a legend of the sport who is still at the top of his game. Just three wins separate him from a historic first-ever Grand Slam in a calendar year. It will be the first time this feat will be achieved in over half a decade.

Novak Djokovic, currently the top-ranked tennis player in the world has improved his record to 25 wins and 0 losses in majors during this year. On Monday, he won 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, and 6-2. He continued his hunt for a proper Grand Slam as well as a 21st major title which will be another record.

Novak Djokovic later said that the start was not good. But it was a very good finish. If he wins this US Open, it will be his 4th time being the champion. He already has 6 Wimbledons, 2 French, and 9 Australian Open titles to his name. His next opponent will be Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, the 6th-ranked player. He had last met him at the Wimbledon Final earlier in the year. As usual. Djokovic’s game plan was to tire out his opponent.
