The last date for filling out an income tax return (ITR) for FY 2021-22 or AY 2022-23 was July 31, 2022. If you have filed your ITR before the deadline and still have not received the tax refund, there could be multiple reasons. Here are three possible reasons why your Income Tax Refund is still pending.

If your income tax return has been processed and refund is confirmed but still processed refund is confirmed but still pending, you need to check the status of the refund. You can get your refund status on the NSDL website or on the e-filling income tax website. Check if your ITR is processed by the tax department.

First, you need to check whether the income tax department has processed your ITR. you will get a tax refund only after your ITR is processed and the tax department confirms the same.  Do note that if the tax department confirms that you are eligible for a refund after processing the income tax return, only then you will receive a refund. If the income tax department believes that there is no tax refund pending, you will not get any refund.

Reasons You Haven’t Received Your Tax Refund

Many things can hold up the processing and delivery of your tax refund. For example, it could be delayed if you filled your return too early or waited until the last minute. If you tried to file in January, for example, a last minutes change to the tax code could have triggered an error on your return that slowed down the processing.

Similarly, waiting until the very last minute to get your return in can mean a longer wait for your refund if the IRS is backlogged with a larger-than-usual volume of returns. also, keep in mind that filling out a paper return can slow things down. The fastest way to file and get your refund is to do it electronically online.
