Taylor Kinney Will Not Return For Chicago Fire Season 11

Taylor Kinney

Taylor Kinney, a star of Chicago Fire, won’t be in the Season 11 finale, despite fan assumption.

Taylor Kinney who plays Kelly Severide has been taking a leave of absence since January to deal with a personal situation, as Deadline previously revealed exclusively. Jesse Spencer, a former member of the Chicago Fire cast who played Matt Casey opposite Taylor Kinney for ten seasons, made a comeback earlier this season and will make another cameo appearance in the season finale. Since its debut in 2012, Kinney has played the firefighter on the Dick Wolf procedural. Spencer initially left in the 200th episode of Chicago Fire, which aired in October 2021.

When Spencer left the television series, his character was on his way to Oregon to care for the sons of his late best friend Andy Darden. He was also attempting a long-distance romance with Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer).

In the April episode, Casey, who is now in charge of a top-secret task force, came home to select a local representative — someone he trusts — to keep things under control in Chicago. Jesse Spencer, who plays Matt Casey, will make a cameo appearance in the season finale.

“I constantly told [series co-creator] Derek Haas that should there were scenes that he felt would be suitable for me to come back, then I’m completely open to that since I want to reconnect with the old gang and I love working there,” Spencer said at the time, according to a report from Deadline.

Dick Wolf, Andrea Newman, Derek Haas, Reza Tabrizi, Michael Gilvary, Arthur Forney, and Peter Jankowski are the executive producers of Chicago Fire.

In collaboration with Wolf Entertainment, Universal Television, a unit of Universal Studio Group, produces Chicago Fire.
