In the new year, supporters of legalized gambling in Texas hope to take a big step forward. There are already more than 200 registered gambling lobbyists in the state, and many lawmakers and the public’s opinions of casinos have changed significantly.
The speaker of the Texas House of Representatives said that authorities hope to create casino entertainment complexes in the state, similar to Las Vegas. There are plans to build four casino resorts in major Texas cities. All the profit from gambling will go to education and public safety.
It is noted that over the past year, the attitude to casinos in Texas has changed significantly, largely due to the fact that more and more other U.S. states have legalized gambling. Moreover, gambling has long been legalized in our neighboring country, Canada, and the state receives considerable profit from this sphere. Especially given that there’re many active no deposit bonus codes for users to get free bonuses on Canadian gambling sites.
Going back to the situation in Texas: Democratic Senator Carol Alvarado has already filed a bill proposing a constitutional amendment to legalize casinos and sports betting. This would create the Texas Gaming Commission and regulate the industry.
Many supporters of legalization point out that while gambling is banned in Texas, fans travel to other states to play at casinos. Therefore, huge amounts of tax revenue pass the Texas budget.
The biggest obstacle to approving the bill is considered to be getting it through the Texas Senate, which Dan Patrick leads.
