Scottie Pippen has accused Chicago Bulls’ legendary coach Phil Jackson of racism. One of the greatest two-way players in his time, he played along with Michael Jordan in the Bulls’ dominant run in the 90s. But things seem to have soured between him and his coach as he has accused his head coach of being racist for a decision he took back in 1994.
Scottie Pippen was direct in his accusation in the Dan Patrick show when in a direct question of whether he was calling Phil Jackson a racist, Scottie Pippen replied that he believed that Jackson was racist.
21 years later he was still bitter about the decision to give the ball to rookie Toni Kukoc and not him. He decided to take himself out of the playoff game in 1994. He felt that he deserved more after all he had done for the team and said that he had felt insulted then. He said that in the absence of Michael Jordan in the team, he deserved the shot.
Scottie Pippen Also Gets At Jackson For Exposing Kobe Bryant
Scottie Pippen also referred to the relation between Jackson and Kobe Bryant to push his point about the former’s treatment of black players.
Phil Jackson was with the LA Lakers between 1999 and 2004 and coached, among others, Kobe Bryant. He later wrote about the disruption in the last year in his book and was quite critical of Kobe. Pippen said that Jackson was unfair in revealing things that happen in the team in his infamous book. Things should have stayed within the circle, he felt.
He said that his exposure belittled Bryant, one of the greatest players of all ties. Scottie Pippen later came on Twitter and said that he stood behind his words and people had to dig deeper to get to the truth.
